| One morning I stopped in to get some Stumptown coffee and croissant. Just because a place uses good coffee doesn't mean they make good coffee. Stumptown needs to review brewing techniques with the barista and the croissant...cross MLK walk up the steps to 31st and get a croissant from Sweet & Savory. | |

| Obviously the coffee is amazing at this place because they serve Stumptown. I've been a fan of Stumptown for years because in Portland it's about the only coffee served in the best restaurants. What I didn't expect was to become a complete addict of the croissants. Each layer is light and buttery, with a crispity exterior and delightfully soft interior. I prefer the mozzarella and spinach filling, but my boyfriend likes the ham and cheese. You can get them fresh every morning, or go for the discounts on the previous day's leftovers (if there are any). Either way, they are the best croissants I've ever had and I feel like I'm robbing the place because they are so cheap :) Trust me, you HAVE to try these. | |

The few times I've stopped in for a pastry have been dissappointing. One time I ordered chai and it was lukewarm, the second time I ordered coffee and it was the same temp. I don't know if Stumptown coffee is good because my cup tasted weak and warm. Recently went there for dinner and was bummed. The fries were cold and greasy (might need to up the temp of the oil) and the bun the burger came on was light and boring and became a wet sponge. The salad, the house green salad, was pretty dissappointing. It was just green leaf lettuce with a few cucumbers on top. I would think that a large dinner salad, esp at the price is was offered at, would at least have romaine or some mixed greens. I love that Mezzaluna is in the neighborhood and I wish them every the success. Maybe I'll try their breakfast, which seems to have gotten great reviews. |

We walked over to Mezzaluna for brunch this morning and found it to be a great place in the neighborhood. I loved the egg dish with green chilis and the potatoes. My friend got the biscuits and gravy, which was good but I don't know if I'd get it in the future. I can't wait to go back to try out their baked goods. It's my new coffee stop when I'm making my multiple trips to Lowes on Sundays. |

Sweetie and I went to Mezzaluna Sunday, intending to buy take-out baked goods for some home-bound friends. We were pleasantly surprised by the full menu (and unpleasantly surprised by the lack of backed goods, particularly the cookies, which are *awe*some when they have them). The brunch menu has a nice range of options, more than typical, and includes "dutch babies," which I've never seen outside of my friend's kitchen. We ordered food to go - potato pancakes, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, and the "hangover," which is a lovely mound of roasted potatoes with sausage gravy and a fried egg. I personally had the potato pancakes, which were crisp and flavorful, with some nice slivers of green onions to perk them up. They came, as they should, with apple sauce, sour cream, and sausage on the side. The consensus around the table was that the food was quite tasty and, for the record, it travels well (and the compost-able containers can go into the yard waste bin!). The portions are reasonably sized - probably more than what the USDA would call a serving - but a not coma-inducing mound like some breakfast places serve. I urge others to support this great and tasty neighborhood place! |

It's now on our list of regular places to go. Great atmosphere, very friendly, gracious service. Yummy food! We split a dutch baby and the veggie omelet; both were fantastic. Great potatoes and fresh fruit, seemed like it was prepared with care. So happy it exists in the CD. |

| We made it into MezzaLuna for the first time today to try the brunch and it did not disappoint. Good sized portions of quality breakfast and the prices matched perfectly. The service was prompt and friendly and the coffee is better then the 'Bucks. Sunday brunch at MezzaLuna is a must. | |

I'm setting aside $20 a week to invest in Mezzaluna. Its presence makes our neighborhood feel warm and liveable! Coffee I would have bought at Starbucks, a takeout muffin or sandwich ... I'm making a point of buying them at Mezzaluna. btw, their lattes and soups (big portions) are yummy. Plenty of space for kids -- adding a few toys should bring in the mommy & daddy crowd. Invest in our neighborhood, grab yourself a coffee! |
