On Friday, August 15th, at 7 pm, I will be hosting an evening of music and spoken word performances, in our garden, at 939 25th Ave S. The music will be by Mel Watson, an Australian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, who moved to Seattle a few years ago. She is a founding member of the award winning Aussie band, "Fruit," and has performed on the US festival circuit, and in Seattle. Her music is layered, interesting, and perfect for the setting. The spoken word performers are all friends of mine. I met Jan Bultmann and Collin Sprenkle at Hugo House. Jan has been focused on "new mythologies," and will read a few short and magical pieces. Collin is a student at SAS, and will read a lovely short story she wrote in the spring. Stuart Greenman is a playwright whose work has been performed at The Public in NYC, and at Arts West in Seattle. He's got a new piece for us. I've known Steven Weinberg for almost 40 years. Steven has just returned from an extended stay in Argentina and will bring some of the work he put together there. And, I'll read a piece myself. The evening will last until about 8:30, and then we'll adjourn for coffee, cookies, and wine. There's a suggested donation of $5 to help defray costs. |
